Food for Thoughts UK Survey: Step-by-Step Guide
A straightforward walkthrough of how the official McDonald’s Food for Thoughts survey works in 2026.
Before you begin
Look at your UK restaurant receipt and find the Food for Thoughts participation invitation. Keep the receipt to hand until you have completed the survey.
The official terms require eligible participants to be UK residents aged 18 or older and to complete the survey within 60 days of receiving the receipt. Check that your visit and receipt meet the current requirements.
- Keep the eligible original receipt nearby.
- Read the survey invitation printed on it.
- Only use the official survey page to enter your details.
How to take the survey
Visit the official Food for Thoughts survey website. If you receive an unexpected error, re-enter the URL carefully rather than entering your code on an unfamiliar third-party site.
Follow the current on-screen instructions. You may be asked for receipt details and questions about food, speed, staff helpfulness, order accuracy or cleanliness. Your answers should reflect your real visit.
Our independent code helper cannot start the official survey, identify a restaurant receipt as genuine or issue a voucher.
- Open the official website.
- Enter the precise receipt information requested.
- Answer questions about your real visit.
- Finish and follow official instructions for saving any eligible voucher.
What happens afterwards?
If you satisfy the conditions, McDonald’s may issue an email voucher with a 12- or 16-character alphanumeric participation code. This is not the same code as the invitation on the receipt.
The voucher has its own expiry date and can be used once per eligible customer. The applicable offer depends on the date you completed the survey; see our updated reward guide.
- Read the voucher expiry date.
- Check the £5 purchase condition if the post-22-May-2026 offer applies.
- Use only an eligible in-restaurant redemption method.
Common mistakes to avoid
An order number or receipt total may look similar to the survey code. Don’t guess. If a code is rejected, compare every character with the original receipt.
Avoid websites claiming they can guarantee a free meal, validate codes privately or collect payment information for survey access. For receipt-specific help, use official customer services.
Check the primary source
McDonald’s can change its programmes. For receipt eligibility, genuine vouchers and survey completion, trust its current official services rather than a third-party website.
